The Australian House Building Manual – 9th Edition
This manual is designed as an instructional guide for builders, designers, apprentices, cadets and owner builders. The covers the four conventional house building systems used in Australia – Brick Veneer, Timber Frame, Cavity Brick and Concrete Block.
While the ‘NCC’ and ‘Australian Standards’ provide the legal building requirements, this manual is intended to explain the why and how to put them into practice. The graphical interpretation and step-by-step description is intended for easy comprehension by the apprentice or cadet.
This manual is intended as a general guide to common on-site building methods. Specific dimensions, specifications and design of structural members must be obtained from individually prepared plans and specifications.
